I want a Domino's!

Yeah, you read it right. I want a Domino's!

Last night I had the worst nights sleep. I couldn't relax no matter what I did!

To make it worse, Mrs Troy Lake Personal Training decided she was going to kick the s*it out of me in her sleep... great eh!? She also laughs in her sleep, which really creeps me out!

Anyhow, as a Personal Trainer, I know how important sleep is. I'm obsessed with it. So much so that if I'm struggling to go to sleep, in my mind I'm thinking "oh my god, I'm not going to get my 7-8 hours at this rate" (sorry to all you new Mums/Dads out there) which, as you can imagine, makes the situation worse!

Anyhow, today, as a result of not sleeping properly, I've craved bad food! Let me give you an insight in to what I'm eating today compared with what I really want to eat:

What I ate

3 egg omelette with cheese Coconut oil in boiling water (don't ask)

What I wanted to eat

A full English breakfast with loads of black pudding and bacon Peanut Butter

What I ate

A mince stir fry with noodles and mixed veg Banana

What I wanted to eat

Fish and chips with lots of salt and vinegar (I can actually smell that now) Peanut butter

Tea/Dinner (depending on where you are in the world)

What I'm having

Sweet potato, chicken and mixed veg

What I really want

'Mighty Meaty' pizza from Domino's (someone told me the name of that, honest) Peanut butter

After work/super

What I'm having

Protein shake

What I really want

A bucket of peanut butter.

If, like me, you struggle to switch off on a night, here are a few things you can try:

  • Turn off all devices and read an hour before bed
  • Take a magnesium supplement or have an Epsom Bath Salt bath
  • Meditate (You don't have to cross your legs and say "hmmmmm")
  • Have a regular sleep schedule
  • Create a pre sleep routine
  • Write down your worries (earlier in the day)
  • Write down what you need to do the following day (earlier in the day)
  • Sleep in a bat cave (not literally)
  • Focus on the positives in your life
  • If you think of something that worries you, place your tongue where your front teeth meet your gums (on the inside) and see if you can still think of that thing that was worrying you (i love this one)
  • Make sure you're getting enough exercise! (I know a really good PT!)

Let me know how you get on!

If you think training at the gym is tough, then you need to try a session with Troy. He will have you working muscles you didn't even know you had! I would recommend starting up with Troy to anybody.
